Samantha "Hattie" Griffith was born on March 22, 1846.

Hattie married Leander (Lee) Andrew Fording and had four sons: William, Ewen, Arthur, and Harry. Hattie passed away young, on October 25, 1882 in Ohio, at the age of 36.
